And Siren Was Born

It all begins with a young indigenous girl who loved to dance..

The dance industry and the art of dance are not the same thing. As a girl growing up in the competitive dance world, I learned a lot of valuable insights into the way the industry works, and also the ways in which it doesn’t. Competitive dance of course has it’s benefits, but in my experience, the most engaging and employable performers are just that.. Performers.

Whether it be for kids with a performing spirit, or adults who just love to dance, I always believed that the barrier for entry was too high for people wanting high quality professional training. From this idea, Siren was born.

Which brings us to 2022. Siren aims to build a diverse, supportive community atmosphere above all else and strives to create an avenue for people of all walks of life to identify and nourish their love of performing. As our community grows, I hope to create a pocket within the dance world where kids can cultivate an unshakeable confidence, and adults can tap into their divine femininity without shame or judgement.

I feel as if every experience I’ve had has been leading me to this point. Whether it be leaving my home town at 14 and moving to the city alone to pursue dance, working an admin day job when the gigs were few and far between or moving cross country multiple times and learning how to build a community in each new place.. I want to thank each and every one of you who have walked (or danced) into my life and taught me the many valuable life lessons that I take with me into this new chapter.

You’ve made that little indigenous girls dreams come true, and I can’t wait to see how our community grows.

xoxo
